She said everybody at church, after having seen Marti beside the rest of the family, just couldn't believe that that was their child. He's a roustabout. And when you get this kind of news as an adult that your mom isn't really your mom or your daughter isn't really your daughter. And as Ruth and Faith saw it, it wasn't their place to mess in their parents' affairs, which is why, when her husband Rudy blurted it out a few years later, Ruth was so shocked. I said, am I adopted?
